What are your favorite sites, blogs and/or mags for wedding inspiration? I read all the major wedding magazines and blogs. I especially have always been inspired by Martha Stewart Weddings.

What should a potential client bring to a first meeting with you? Nothing really! We talk a lot about what’s important to them in terms of theirphotography, how I work, and then just look at at a lot of images. I guess if I had to say something, I’d say time – I like to chat for a while and really get to know my clients.

Any overall tips that couples should keep in mind when it comes to photographing the big day? Trust your photographer and just have fun!

Thanks so much Lisa! Here are some amazing images that Lisa sent over from some of her past weddings – aren’t they just the bestest?! Enjoy! xo

Meet + Greet: An Interview with a Wine Country Bride

So excited to launch a new series of posts called Meet + Greet on Barn Lovely today! In this series, we will be interviewing couples who have been married in or are planning a wedding in wine country. We’ll learn why they chose the venue they did, what worked, and what truly inspires them.

The bride and groom we are featuring today I adore with all my heart and I am so very lucky to have them as friends (and to have been a guest at this AH-mazing party!) Their jaw-dropping gorgeous wedding has been featured in Brides Magazine, Modern Bride (China), Vogue’s Bridal Issue (Japan) and Style Me Pretty, just to name a few. Leslie and Jeff got married at stunning Beaulieu Garden in the Rutherford AVA of Napa Valley. A huge thank you to Leslie for the interview and another huge thank you to Lisa Lefkowitz for allowing Barn Lovely to share the beautiful images she took of Leslie and Jeff’s wedding.

Bride & Groom: Leslie + Jeffrey

Wedding Location & Time of Year: Beaulieu Garden, June 2010

Describe your wedding style: Casual Elegance. Understated effortless luxe. Simplicity. Forever modern. Light. Edited. Sweet Sophistication. A breath of fresh air. An appreciation of subtle, meaningful details.

The theme of our wedding was to envision Beaulieu as our summer home. Over the years, Jeff and I have had many homes (NYC, SF, Boston, New Jersey, WV and Taiwan) so to us the world is our home. We wanted our wedding day to feel as if we invited all of our friends to stay with us in our summer home.

We wanted our guests to walk away from the night like they had just woken up from a summer reverie. Nothing too heavy handed. However, we did want something different than what we had seen from typical wine country weddings. For instance, we asked Lisa, our photographer, not to shoot any vineyard shots because it’s been overdone. We wanted the freedom, relaxed elegance of Napa, but without the “expected.”

Where did you find your inspiration?
Blogs, blogs, blogs. Martha Stewart Weddings. J. Crew. Vogue. Domino Magazine. Domino Magazine The Book of Decorating (one of our patterns we used for our paper goods was inspired by the wallpaper I found in the book!).

Why Wine Country?
For us, it was Beaulieu Garden that did us in. Beaulieu is the perfect blend of beauty and intimacy.

On our 1st visit (we only visited 4 venues in total), we immediately were taken aback by the ½ mile drive lined with sycamore trees. We fell in love with the intimate, secluded grounds where all of our guests could roam freely. Not only was it the perfect backdrop for our “summer reverie” but logistically, Beaulieu answered our wishes in a very big and tactical way. Because we had a good portion of our guests traveling internationally (China, Taiwan, India) and from the east coast, it was important to us to have 1 location for both ceremony and reception.

What three things you could have not planned your wedding without:
1. Jeff! He was the rock (and always is) to my madness.
2. My event designer Gloria Wong Design.
3. Three way toss up between timelines, love and the belief that everything (and I mean everything) comes together for an absolutely ultimate day.

Your favorite sites, blogs and/or mags for planning: 100 Layer Cake, Snippet & Ink, Style Me Pretty, Martha Stewart Weddings, The Wedding Book: The Big Book for your Big Day.

Where did you go on your honeymoon? The Maldives and Kenya for a 10 day Safari. It was the best of both worlds!

What is your go to “wedding ready” beauty product or treatment:
International Orange’s Blissful Bride Package! My skin never looked so radiant. It’s a series of 3 facials that will perfect your glow for the big day and has built-in savings, which every bride loves!

If your wedding was a (choose one) car, actor, piece of furniture, who/what would it be?
The Restoration Hardware Belgian Track Arm Slipcovered Sofa. It’s classic, yet redefined for today. Slipcovered (not fussy, easy to clean), clean lines, and deeper than normal couches for ultra-comfort. Casual yet sophisticated. It’s so “us” that this was our 1st piece of furniture that we purchased after we got married!

A ginormous thank you to Leslie and Jeff for sharing all of the insight behind their incredible day!
